Fraternity vs. West Campus Dorms

I am having a difficult time deciding between the west campus dorms and the fraternities. I want to have a social college experience, and the idea of really getting to know a group of guys sounds great. On the other hand, all of the frats I visited had the freshmen living in "porches" (basically a room full of 5-8 other freshmen). I feel you'd really get to know all the guys pretty well, but I just don't know if I could live like that for a full year.

The West Campus dorms are all incredibly nice and I would love living in them. Basically, my question is whether I can still get a decent social experience while living in the dorms.

Also, how possible is joining a fraternity mid-year? Is it difficult (expensive) to get out of the 9-month housing agreement for dorms?

It is almost impossible to join a fraternity mid-year and live in. The fraternity experience seems to be the only way to guarentee a social experience, the dorms are very hit and miss, usually miss.

Living within walking distance from campus my whole life, I’ve known plenty of people go to UW. The most consistently happy and thriving people are in greek life, despite the less than ideal porches.

hey brownie do you even go to UW? your past posts say you go to stanford and apparently you are in a sorority…i’m glad youre trying to help but if you are not a student nor a guy then idk if your response is that helpful, greek life is very different across campuses
