I am planning on attending the university of Florida this fall and am interested in joining a fraternity. If anyone can explain to me the rush week process, how to sign up, and their experience it would be greatly appreciated. My biggest fear is not getting a bid, if anyone can provide me with any information regarding fraternities. Last question how much time do fraternities usually take up every week because I am on the pre med track and want to know if I will even be able to handle it.
I’m still a high school student, but a friend of mine goes to a big state school similar to uf(he’s actually transferring to uf this fall). He is on the pre dental track and said that these classes are so demanding it’s very hard to commit to a fraternity. He said him and his friends joke when a business major complains about classes cuz they’re so easy in comparison. You can try rushing and pledging and it definitely works for some people but adcoms are going to be much more impressed with a high gpa and good ec’s than the fact that you were in a fraternity. In a Med school interview, pledging is not the right answer to “why were your fall grades so low?”
I understand there was a lot of stereotyping and generalizing in This but I don’t mean it to be mean or bad towards fraternities. I just know it’s hard for a pre med to pledge. However, I know Greek life if very big at uf and great for a social life.
