Hi there,

I'm tending to major in CS. I got accepted by University of Wisconsin-Madison and University of Waterloo and still waiting for University of Toronto's decision. I've nearly completed all the UW-Madison's moving procedures.

I'm pretty freaked out these days because the departing time is coming. I don't care about the amount of money I have placed on UW-Madison's deposit. If I'm advised to go to Canada's U, I'm willing to throw that money away if necessary.

Please give me some advice!

These are 3 great universities for computer science. Out of curiosity what is your goal coming out of you CS degree? For example if you are interested in software design, I know Waterloo has a lot of recruiting on campus done by Microsoft for bachelor’s students. I ahave also been told that Waterloos undergraduate is more practically structured around preparing you for the industry, therefore it might be a good choice if you plan on ending your education after an undergraduate degree. However if you plan on doing a graduate degree, UW or UofT might be the better choice.

I know UofT’s computer science (along with its engineering department) is one of the hardest departments in the university to get admitted to, and is world class in this area, so it should definitely be a strong contender for you. I do not, however know much about about the reputation of UW Madison’s computer science program.

Are you a Canadian or an American because this could drastically affect how much each of these universities will cost you.

Very unusual that you haven’t heard from U of T yet. Have you confirmed that they have all the required application materials?

@NamelesStatistic: Well I don’t have a specific plan yet. Btw, I’m an Asian.
@alwaysamom: It sucks when you know that you have sent all the required application materials and you haven’t receive the answer. I sent them 3 emails asking for their decision and there’s no response. A weak before that they said they will give me the answer due 30th June but yeah… no email from UofT.

Where are you from? I’m at UofT for engineering now, but I am Canadian so the tutition is considerably less than international tuition.
