Hello, I am taking the December 3rd SAT. I am freaking out over my SAT Practice Test score for Critical Reading. When I took the test in June, I got a 600 in CR. But, when I just finished a practice test about 2 minutes ago, I got a 510, where I saw increases in Math and Writing. Do you think that not having an English class this semester really hurt my CR score? Are there any tips that you all could give me? Tips in passage based reading and sentence completions are helpful! Thanks!

Read books! Lots of books! Don’t be picky. Force yourself to read all types of genres.

^^I second that However I am picky about what I read.

Anyways, a book or two and the daily newspaper before SAT will be fine.Highlight words you do not know and find their meanings.Make sure to ask yourself questions while you read like what is the writer trying to say or what he/she is implying or is he/she biased etc. You can probably ask someone older what they to see if you are correct. This will help you with the comprehension passages.

What worked for me was skimming the questions but not the answers before the passage so that I had “pre-knowledge” about the passage and what I was looking for. With double passages, I tackle the questions solely about the first passage before reading the second passage. Then I would answer those about the second passage and lastly the ones about both. I don’t know if this will work for you but this is what worked for me.

Good Luck!!
