Freaking out about my schedule

Honestly, I'm not what you call a "good student" by CC terms. I don't have an awesome gpa, a killer SAT score, and fabulous SAT subject tests. To be honest, I actually haven't taken any SATs, ACTs, or SAT subject tests yet. I don't go to school to do mundane assignments and get gold stars on my homework. I go to school because I value education and learning.

I'm a rising junior, and next year will be my first year in IB. I'm not that great at math and science classes, but I want to go into STEM, and that is where my interest lies. I work extremely hard in my science and math classes, and yet I still get B's as semester averages (last year I had an A in Regular Geometry, B in Honors Algebra 2, and B in Honors Chemistry). Next year, I went a bit insane on my schedule. I'm studying Pre-Calculus over the summer through an online program because I wanted to do IB Math SL (same as Calc AB) next year.

LONG STORY SHORT MY SCHEDULE IS REALLY HARD AND I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN HANDLE IT BECAUSE I HAVE ONE EC THAT IS EXTREMELY TIME CONSUMING SO I NEED SOME ADVICE THANKS.

IB English HL
IB History HL
IB Psychology HL
IB Math SL (same as Calculus AB)
AP Physics 1
IB Chem 1
French 3 Pre-AP
Student as Teacher (basically student aide) semester 1/TOK semester 2

Should I just give up the summer pre-calculus course and do regular pre-calculus next year as opposed to Calculus AB?

Well, that’s definitely a really tough load… I would consider dropping one of the classes if you can and just taking it senior year. Like maybe physics or psychology if they aren’t a prerequisite for any class you plan on taking senior year.

I would recommend staying on the track of Calculus AB during senior year. It would be worth it and would look good for college.

Also, is there any way you could invest time in maybe one more EC at least? Having only one EC may not be too appealing to colleges. However, your passion and time put into that EC will definitely be a plus if you’ve continued it for a while (more than one or two years).

It may be difficult this year, but it’ll all pay off! Don’t give up, and best of luck to you!
