<p>I was really proud of my essay and I think it was pretty great. I wrote it on being a volunteer puppeteer for my church's outreach program (strictly educating the kids though, not preaching) and I've done it for almost 7 years now. I know my UW gpa is low, but how exactly does the process work? do they even look at the unweighted or do they just recalculate everything and start with the Recalculated gpa? I was really dedicated to my EC's and I won some awards in journalism. I'm hoping being a black male and the decent SAT gives me a shot. Oh, and an upward trend. 2 APs sophomore year and one dual enrollment course, 2 APs Junior year and 6APs senior year, straight A's first semester senior year. I was kind of a late bloomer, if it's not obvious enough :/ be brutally honest.</p>

<p>I would say that your chance of admission is good, but not guarenteed. Your UF GPA is low, but it seems to be clear that you’ve made an effort to improve that and you’ve taken some good classes. Your EC’s are awesome. UF definitely places a heavy emphasis on EC’s, the essay, and the person as a whole rather than judging an application by a test score. As you said, being a black male probably lends some weight to your app, so that’s another promising factor. I would tend to guess (but I’m JUST guessing) that you will be admitted. Good luck!!!</p>

<p>Wow, I misread your post the first time. You haven’t taken “good” classes, you’re taken some awesome classes!! AP’s and straight A’s just strengthen your already strong app. Best of luck!</p>

<p>I think you have a great possibiility of being admitted. Although your GPA is a tad bit low, you’ve taken great classes that will strengthen your competiveness as a applicant. Plius you have great EC’s, so you should be fine. Best of Luck! :)</p>

<p>I’m taking the 6 APs in senior year, though - will they really consider the challenging schedule even though I took it in senior year? I thought they really only looked at 9-11th grade?</p>

<p>They do look at 9-11th grade classes and class rigor, but they also look at your senior schedule and it’s rigor. Basically, they do that to make sure your keeping up the good work in senior and not slacking off in class selections.</p>
