freaking out over grades.

After first semester finals in sophomore year, I have 4 B's and only 3 A's. I overloaded myself with ec's such as crew, (a sport with 3 hour practices 5 days a week) and debate. Anyway, now i'm really scared about my gpa. Freshman year, i had 7 A's and 1 B first semester and 6 A's and 2 B's second semester. Is there anyway I can get into a good college like Berkeley or Pomona. I'd also really like to go to a LAC like Barnard or maybe Wellesley. If I improve my grades 2nd semester, do I have any chance?

Yes and yes. Don't worry so much.

anyone else have some advice?

I definitely agree with Kaznack. It's just one part of the year. And only what, 1/8 of high school? Don't sweat it!

Please, stop worrying. To be completely honest, you need to relax. You are a sophomore. There is a difference between being proactive and doing your best and being paranoid and just making it worst. There are tons and tons of people that most threads about how they are freaking out about grades. You can't change a grade already earned. Just move on, and try harder. No one can 100% say that you are going to be fine for admissions, because even top students get denied. So, do the best you can in high school, enjoy it, and let the chips fall where they must.
