School is finally coming to an end and final semester grades are coming out.
My grades (as a sophomore) are frankly, UGLY. I did much better first semester with only one B in AP Euro, and now I literally have 3 Bs in Euro, Bio, and Algebra II. (2 of those are weighted, while the math class is not)
My grades have me panicked because I've always tried pretty hard until I slacked off a bit during the second semester and basically screwed up my grades. I have strong EC's and am a pretty motivated student aiming for Ivys.
Will these grades kill my chances? I am still but a sophomore, but I am extremely worried whether I even have a chance with all those B's.

Thank you for your time and have a great day.

Sophomore year grades are still very important, and given that many students will have higher grades (i.e straight As) than you, I do not think you’re chances are that good. What other classes have you taken during Sophomore year? Is your school high-performing and very competitive?

Don’t get your hopes up for the Ivy League (consider some other great schools too). However, I think that will very strong Junior and Senior year grades, perhaps you may still have a chance. Although Ivies will consider your ECs, recs, don’t forget that your transcript remains the MOST important part of your application.

I don’t think any one thing can kill your chances, if you are a passionate person and you have a lot of stuff going for you. No one can really get their hopes up for the Ivy Leagues, though. They turn away people with perfect grades, and possibly might accept people who don’t have them, though the chances might not be great. Just try your best, and don’t try to mold yourself into what they want, but instead focus on being yourself and doing what you love. If you really want the Ivy League, then you won’t slack off again. But hey, wherever you end up is where you were meant to be in a way, and I’m sure it’ll be great, so don’t stress out too much! Just focus on doing your absolute best from here on out!
