Freaking OUT

@GnocchiB
Ok, then I won’t talk to her about that.

@T26E4
I do not plan on talking to her about my grades. I want to ask her how I can perform better in the class, that was my original plan. Also, if you read my previous post, the term “freaking out” was a decision to get more replies.I know this is manipulative and a little deceitful, but it was honestly just to get more replies because several threads often get very few actual replies… In real life, I am usually the one calming other students down about a poor test grade and what not. I am a much more easygoing person than the original post may seem.

Cool. Sorry I missed your “marketing” strategy. It worked!

Well, best of luck to you. Keep calm – it’ll all be over (what you can control at least) in a few months.

Not beg, not whine, not ask, "Can you please point out that I got an 83? " Not panicking.

Of course a bright, high performing kid can speak with an LoR writer. And this is for admissions. I am not suggesting subterfuge.

It really doesn’t matter. 1) this will not make or break your admission decision even if you want to delcare biology. 2) this is just a midterm grade anyway so it’s really not a big deal. Don’t freak out. It is what it is, and everything you have done and accomplished up to this point is good enough. You will not get denied because of it. OTOH, even if you had an A, it doesn’t mean you would get admitted. See my point? Try to put things in perspective and relax!

My son got a fabulous letter from his math teacher who gave him a B+. He was always losing time on tests because he couldn’t remember formulas, but then he would derive them from first principles. The teacher talked about how even though he didn’t get the best grade in the class, he actually probably had the best mathematical mind.

I think talking to the teacher about how you could improve your studying strategies is a great idea. You want the teacher to have positive thoughts about you when they sit down to write that letter.

Good luck!

Don’t worry! Relax and everything will be fine! A single B+ isn’t the end of the world!!

Freaking out over a single test, a single grade. You want advice. Stop freaking out.

You do your best. What will be will be. Worry about things you have control over. Things you don’t control aren’t worth worrying about.

My advice, treat that B+ as a badge of honor. It’s proof that you are human. It’s proof that you are imperfect. It will not impact your life one iota because you are more robust than that, or at least you need to be.

Stop freaking out.

Hey everyone

I had the conversation with my teacher today and I think my problems with the class have been relatively resolved. We went over a lab that I did somewhat poorly on and discussed how I could do better in the future. In addition, we also had a test today and I think I did pretty well, but of course, we will have to wait and see. Thank you for all the advice.

For anyone who missed the previous post, I am anxious about the B+ but I am not as worried as the original post may seem. I framed my situation that way in order to receive more replies.
