i think i tried dc++ and something went wrong, but i dont remember what... anyways... i live on campus at michigan state right now, and i was getting blocked from the internet for downloading songs... i was wondering if that's an issue for college students

what is more worse to use: bittorrent, dc++, limewire/ares

There is no "worst". BitTorrent is public and popular but less centralized than dc++ and requires sharing (as far as I know, no claims have been made against downloaders). dc++ (with trusted friends) is private but centralized and requires sharing. Gnutella and FastTrack clients are public, popular, and usually permit the disabling of sharing without consequence. Bear in mind that the RIAA and MPAA flood the networks with hoax files.

Actually, DC++ has the most to download from - especially the hubs that require everybody to share 10-20 gigs or even more. Obviously, the downside is that you have to HAVE 10-20 gigs (of real files, not bogus system files) to share. That's where Soulseek comes in. Before you have enough to share, use Soulseek.

The only advantage to using dc++, in my mind, is privacy. Those massive hubs are prime targets. Several have been sued this year by the **AA. This is why I limited dc++ to trusted friends (who won't have much).

just out of curiosity, what is your "line of succession" for downloading?

like i would try limewire first, if its not there/doesnt work/too slow (I have T1/T3 connection), then i look for it on torrent networks, then if that doesnt work, then i would try other means like dc++ or ares.. but usually it doesnt get there; i would find it at either limewire or torrent

i think kazaa and morpheus are horrible, period, and would never use it for anything
