Do you ever have any free time or is it all about work?
Yes
When I was in undergrad I had a fair amount of free time. It depended on the point of the semester and what was happening, but I usually wasn’t too stressed. I tried to do my homework in between classes or right when I got home so that I could enjoy the rest of the evening. At the very least I’d take a few long breaks when I got home so that I didn’t go crazy.
In grad school… It’s a lot different. Things don’t really “end.” Your research and your work is something you’re constantly working on and building from, so I feel guilty when I have free time and feel like I’m going to fail and never make it. But I still do have the free time, haha.
Super vague question but - I work full time and take 2-3 community college classes a semester and have a little bit of free time to go out with friends and play video games.
I (junior, ChemE major) average five or six classes a semester and am now doing research on top of that. I have a couple of hours a night to read or watch YouTube, but not much of a social life.
freshman year I took 5 classes both semesters and was part of 5 student organizations.
Work and play wasn’t an issue with proper time management.
