im a junior this year and im only taking one ap class (ap us).

i heard that students should take 3 or 4 years of one language if they're planning on going to a UC .

im in french 3 right now. its only the 3rd week of school and i am doing horribly in the class because the first 2 years i had an easy teacher who taught us nothing so i used that class to do other class hw and stuff.

should i drop french 3 and take another class while i still can? i dont want to risk getting a bad grade during my junior year. i cant take another ap class though because i dont have the prerequisites for the others.

does that 3rd year of language really make a difference for ucla/ucsd/uci?

I don't know if not taking a 3rd year makes a big difference, but if you drop would you take another class? Because if not, then staying in French 3 definitely is better. I'm in French also (level 5) and I thought French was super easy until French 3, since that's when you REALLY start learning stuff and they don't baby you anymore. Unless you have another class you want to take, don't drop. Just my advice though.

Isn't French 3 where they shove tenses down your throat? After that, it gets a lot better and you review stuff and just start reading stories and eventually books in French...at least, that's how it works in my school. French 4 and 5 were a LOT easier than 3, at least, for me. So if possible, stick with it?
