What do you guys think about the French Immersion program? Helpful/not helpful?

From what I've seen at my school, the French Immersion classes receive lower marks, and thus our averages are much lower than the ones in English. This is a big hit for me.

What about French Immersion schools that offer no AP or IBs?

Do you think being in French Immersion will help get you into a good/high ranked school? (ex. Ivies)

I would think of taking AP/IB over a French Immersion school that doesn’t offer those courses. AP/IB should be more preferential in the admission decision than French Immersion.

Even if the general population receives lower marks, it doesn’t mean you will do the same. Be the one that thrives in doing the harder subjects. It will help you out later on.

Just a simple question here: why would you want to be in french immersion?
I mean, province wise, Quebec has a lot of french speaking students that will apply to Ivies with 2+ fluent languages…
I’d say think of your grades first; go to a good school that can help you get high grades and then take a french class.
Besides, your french level can always be evaluated through the sat II, so I don’t think colleges conpare immersion/non-immersion schools.

However, colleges do want to see passion (if french is what you’d like to study in the future).
Just take the most rigorous courses offered to you, match them with your interests and you should be fine.
