Not for me- I've lost weight since I've been at college. Some combination of a lot of walking and never remembering to eat when the dining halls are open.

Sometimes . . .

you WILL eat more but it is also much easier to go to the gym and get more exercize and stuff so it depends on the person

I've been losing weight because the food here's so bad. I eat much less then I do at home because I have to buy my own snacks.

The food at my cafeteria is really great, all you can eat. But I haven't gained any weight. I guess its because I walk so much everyday to my classes.

Even though the food at Cornell is great and I eat a lot, I've actually lost weight because it is so much easier to get to the gym here and, since I don't have a car, I have to walk everywhere.

How easy is it to get to the gym at Cornell? And responding to the thread, yes, I gained weight my freshman year, and now I'm a commuter, so I'm still on that trend. Not good. Need to get to the gym more often. I think it's definitely possible to gain that weight.

i'm losing weight, even though the food sucks, i'm eating more balanced meals than I ate at home, I don't eat snacks/drink 2 cans of Cool Nestea a day like i did during the summer, and the fencing practices here are alot more intense than my high school. I guess i'm walking more too.

Not to mention that everything is uphill here :)

Bullseye, the gyms here are pretty close to any of the dorms. If you look on this map, there are gyms within 10 minutes walking no matter where you live on campus (West and North). http://fitness.cornell.edu/pages/cfc_map/cfc_map.asp

The only problem is that it costs 135/year for membership or 80/semester.

I've been around the same weight for many years. Been gaining a little since I've been working out regularly for a little over a year now. Yay for muscle mass. I'm pretty skinny so it will be good to get some extra pounds for once.

I haven't gained any weight! Grrr...

It's so hard for me to gain weight and always losing weight if I don't go to the gym and work out. Not complaining though. My abs are getting pretty defined. Hellooooo ladies (just kidding). =P

Well I'm a transfer student so I can't gain the 15 pounds since it only applies to Freshmen. :)

Really though, considering that it takes me 30 minutes to walk to my classes I figure it's about a mile and a half away from my dorm room. So a three mile round trip, plus one direction is up a pretty steep hill, so I feel like I've getting my work out...

One of these days I'm going to aquire a handheld GPS unit and figure out just how far it really is.

Heh, I think there should be a term called Transfer 10 (or 20!).

I went home this weekend and weighed myself for the first time since I've been here...I haven't gained any weight. Actually, I think I'm down a pound or two. That really surprised me since the food is so bad for you and I basically have to eat it since I'm on a meal plan...but I guess I'm managing to find enough time to go running to work it off.

Freshman 15 = the results of beer

I haven't drank beer so the "Freshman 15" is more like a "Freshman -15"... the food sucks and I've been at the gym alot more because I'm so stressed

i ran sooo much before i came here, and now i'm just too damn busy to find time for runningor the gym. i actually went home this weekend, as well, weighed myself and was surprised to discover that i've last two pounds. rather shocking considering i eat twice as much here and my campus is small... very small with no hills. so... yeah, i dont know how that happened.

the food at stanford is amazing. plus people here are generally really buff, so there is a lot of pressure for people to work out.

lots of food + increased muscle mass = gain-age of pounds

and yea, the beer...

i'll honestly admit that i have gained weight since ive been here. damn dining hall food and soft serve ice cream! 4 lbs to be exact. it doesnt bother me though because its not like my clothes dont fit.
