Freshman classes- too easy???

Honors Algebra 2/Trig
Biology (we don’t have honors science, but it’s considered honors because it’s sophomore level)
Spanish 1
Global Studies (CP)
English Composition & Literature (CP)

I feel like not being in honors history or English would be a disadvantage, especially because most of my friends take all honors classes, and people who aren’t in honors math are in honors classes at every other subjects. The only people who don’t take at least one honors classes are one of those scary ppl.
Last year we had to be recommended by our teachers in order to be in honors classes, and my English teacher wouldn’t recommend me because she thinks I belong in the CP classes (my writing wasn’t that good), and my history teacher didn’t because she thought I didn’t participate enough. On a side note I had 2 A’s and 1 B on both subjects, but I wasn’t in the advanced classes, and got told that I don’t belong in honors classes, while I was in Honors Geometry last year and got 2 B’s and 1 C and barely squeaked through.

Update: I love the history class, and I’m aiming for AP European History next year, but I heard that this year they blocked the regular history students from taking AP Euro their sophomore year :(( History is optional for freshmen at my school, so I think that we at least deserve a chance to get into higher classes

Talk to a counselor, have your regular teacher write a recommendation for you, or if all else fails, get your parents involved

The thing is, I don’t think I’m that good enough to be in honors English or history. My essay average was a C (1 D, an A, and a B) and I don’t even have English this semester (block schedule) and I heard that you can still take AP history sophomore year but I don’t know what to believe…

It is okay that you are not in all honors. Just try to get all honors/AP next year and you will be fine. It is freshman year and we are supposed to acclimate to high school!

It sounds like you were correctly placed for Global Studies and English. See if you can bring your grades to a B/B+ average in those two subjects.
I agree it’d be hard to go from regular to AP, but what about taking honors history over the summer and if you pull a B or more in that, ask for AP Euro? AP Euro is tough and can be taken senior year too, by the way.
Ask your guidance counselor what you’d need to do to get into AP Euro next year.
For English, you really really need to read every day. Start a blog on something you’re passionate about and write twice a week. Or get into fan fiction :), fans tend to be prolific. The more you read and write, the better you’ll get at it.

I would see if you could get some tutoring to help with writing. If you want to take AP history, good essay writing skills are important.

Also work with someone if you need help in Algebra. You need solid Algebra skills for higher math.

^I second requesting a tutor to ensure straight A’s   Now, wouldn’t that be great?

I already receive group help in Algebra 2. The thing is, the worksheets they give me are harder than the ones that we do in school
@MYOS1634 I used to read a lot, but not anymore. I love reading, but I simply don’t have time. :frowning:
