What are classes that you have to take during your freshman year, specially first semester? Are you allowed to take courses from other schools during your first semester?

It depends what school you’re in, but you’ll probably have to take Writing the Essay or some form of it. Yes, you can most likely take courses from other schools during your first semester if they have no prerequisites.

Your adviser can tell you all about what you can and can’t take if you make an appointment with him/her. You’ll get assigned an adviser at Welcome Week.

I would recommend getting your required classes out of the way first. For CAS students, those are the MAP courses. You don’t want those hanging over your head and they gear a lot of them towards freshmen so it’ll ease you into the college workload.

I took: English 101, pre-algebra, education 101, & kinesiology 101. I only took the last 2 classes because by the time i reached freshman year I already had a lot of my general ed done since I’ve been taken college classes online since i was 16.
