HI!
I have been accepted to The City College of New York. I am planning on starting in the fall. I am nervous about choosing courses. I know that there are general education courses that I will need to take but aside from that, how do you choose your first semester classes? Do they give you the name of the professors? When do you get a course catologue?

Not all schools give out a physical copy of course catalogs, poke around your school’s website some and see if it’s posted. Generally you can see the professor’s name when you go to register for a class.

To pick courses, look at what’s required for your major. Or, if you’re planning to transfer, check the transfer requirements for the school you want to get into. Anyways. Look at your major, if you need prereqs for other classes, you should probably get those out of the way early.

Alternatively, just ask a school guidance counselor what you should be taking.
