I was recently accepted to the university of maryland for spring 2011 admission and offered admittance into their freshmen connection program. i know all about the program, im just curious to hear some feedback from some students that have gone through this program, like is it worth/would you reccommend it? and just fyi i live in md about 2 hours away

There’s an entire thread on Freshman Connection here… It seems generally split between “do it” and “don’t do it”…

I saw DS this weekend and he stated that Freshman connection will end for the incoming class of 13. I was shocked by the fact, but he stated that from what he read UMDCP was losing $$$ with this and also had class size problems. Students cannot take classes until 3, but there s a loophole regarding auditing, and many are auditing classes during the hours that they can’t take class.

Hi - I am enrolling in the Freshman Connection program at UM. I want to live as close to campus as possible. I’m looking for 2 or more male Freshman Connection students to share an apartment. (I’ve looked at Knox Village and University View - both are expensive - although Knox Village we can cram 4 into a 2 bedroom for about $600/mo/pp. It would be great to get all three apartments in a Knox Box filled with FC students… Very close to campus and dining hall too. Both Knox and Univ. View require a one year lease. I’m willing to stay off campus for all of freshman year if needed. (I’ve read that there is no guarantee of housing in January and that if you do get housing in January, FC students get crammed into triple rooms. If we can find an affordable arrangement off campus, may as well stick with it.)

Ideally, I’d like roommates who are, like me, trying to enter a limited enrollment degree program. Hopefully this will help us keep each other on track. I have a good sense of humor, am neat but easy to get along with. If you’re interested in making the most of this Freshman COnnection crap, please e-mail me at condor29@atlanticbb.net. Chuck
