I read somewhere that students can put in a request for specific dorms. Does anyone have any recommendations for a great freshman dorm or dorms to request and could you please give reasons why i.e. location, etc.?

Thanks!

UMD calls them residence halls, and the likelihood of you requesting (and getting) a specific dorm is EXTREMELY slim, unless you request Easton. You’ll most likely end up in one of the older high rises, unless they randomly fill an open spot in dorms that sophomores, etc. usually live in. (Unless you are in a special program like Honors, or scholars, or gemstone etc that have a specific dorm that houses them). Even if you’re not in one of those programs, you could end up there if RESLIFE needs to fill empty beds. D1 was in Cumberland as a freshman. Her scholars program had enough people to fill one entire floor and part of another. The rest of that other floor was random freshmen.
