Hi, I am an incoming freshman at UF. I am planning on doing pre-BME.
My AP scores are:
Bio 5
Chem 4
Calc AB 3
Calc BC 4
Physics C 4
World 4
Environmental 4
US History 3
Lang 3
Lit 3
US Gov 3

My first semester I want to take:

Chem 1 (I don't feel comfortable starting with chem 2)

Calc 1 or Calc 3 ( I do not like Calc 2)

Bio 1 or Psychology(Pre-Med)

X Lab1(3 hour/credit lab that covers bio1, chem1, and physics 1 lab)

Intro to BME (1 credit course)

Science for Life(1 credit course)

Second Semester:

Chem 2

Physics 2

X Lab 2(3 hour/credit lab that covers bio2, chem2, and physics 2 lab)

Bio 2? or

What is the Gucci life

I am not sure if I should go straight into Calc 3 given the fact that I only got a 4 on BC and I do not like series and sequences. I am also not sure if i should take bio1 or psych my first semester.

HELP PLZ

Hey, I’m an incoming freshman too. I’m on the pre-med track double majoring in Biology and English. I’ve asked around about several of the core classes that you’ve mentioned, and figured I’d share what I’ve heard.

Chem 1 vs Chem 2:
If you feel unsure about it, the safe bet is usually to go with chem 1 (I’m doing the same). If it’s mostly review for you it’ll give you time to get acclimated to the University and will be a good GPA booster. If it’s difficult and proves to be a hassle, at least it will harden your understanding for future courses.

Calc 1 vs Calc 3:
I’ve heard calc 1 is a major weed-out class and that calc 3 is a heck of a lot better than calc 2. I did calc BC as well but am retaking calc 2 because I’m terrible at the tests for convergence/divergence, but if you feel confident going into calc 3 I’ve heard it’s the best choice.

Biology vs Psych:
Is psych required for your major? If not, I’d say biology, unless you want the psych class to break up some of your hard sciences/math, which isn’t a bad idea either. I’m doing biology sophomore year, but that’s just to break up my schedule with some of my English classes. I wouldn’t put it off any later than that. You really should look at the prerequisites for future classes in your major, though.

X-lab:
I’m taking this, too. I’ve heard nothing but positive things about the course and think it’s a great alternative to traditional labs, especially if you’re considering research. You aren’t required to take Bio 1, Chem 1, and Physics 1 concurrently or prior to this class, if that helps with your schedule decision.

Best of luck! :)

Thanks @ouryellowpaint ! I think I’m ganna take calc 2 and this chem that combines chem 1 and Chem 2
Psych is a class that I gotta take for premed but I think that I’m ganna take it this semester cause it takes care of my last diversity credit and it seems easy lol
