So I've planned out my possible Freshman schedule and am looking for advice/counsel on whether this would be advisable:

BIOG 1105 - Introductory Biology, Individual Instruction
MATH - Calculus I
PYSCH 1101 - Introduction to Psychology: The Frontiers of Psychological Inquiry
FWS
Foreign Language (FREN 2060 - French Intermediate Reading and Writing)
PE Elective

Also, is there a way out of the BIOG 1105/1106 courses as a pre-med requirement? As far as I know, these are the only courses that have lab, and the other courses do not have a lab component. I am not very keen on the "auto-tutorial" and individualized instruction parts of it, and it seems to be way too lax/without instruction. I also understand that most exams are oral examinations, which sound distressing. What are those like?

I would appreciate any input or advice. Thank you!

you definitely don’t have to take autotutorial. I trust you have looked at these guidelines?

you will notice what they call “option 2.” you can take Investigative Biology Laboratory (BioG 1500) and BioG 1440 Introduction to Comparative Physiology for your first semester.
then I think you have to take biochemistry and some other courses, but I’m having trouble reading their chart. by the time you’re planning your spring courses you’ll be on campus and you can consult your advisors here, so it doesn’t really matter.

do you have any idea what major you want to do?

If you’re a premed, you’ll have to take a chem class (most likely Chem 2070, the premed chem class).

There are plenty of upper div bio courses with lab component. If you have AP credit, you are not obligated to take introductory biology.
