Freshman Fall Showcase 2009

This weekend was the Freshman Fall Showcase and I’d just like to say that the class of 2013 is HUGELY talented. The Directors Luis and Blake and the Accompanist Phillip did a fantastic job with the students. Congratulations!!!

Wow, that’s a lot that the freshmen, in just September of their first year, already put on a showcase? They haven’t been there that long. I have not heard of programs having their freshmen showcase (if they have one at all) at the start of freshmen year. Interesting to read about all these facets of the different programs. Nice that you could get back to campus so soon after drop off to see your kid perform!

mtfamily- Do you have a kid who is a freshman at CCPA? I ask because I’m a freshman MT! But yes, we do have a showcase in September of Freshman Year. We also do another show strictly for freshman in the Spring Semester. Roosevelt casts every student in a show every semester, unless they ask to be removed from the casting pool. It’s something that I didn’t find at any other school.

I’m impressed that they would have a show ready to go, however, just a few weeks into arriving on campus!

The Freshman show up about a week before anyone else and start working on the fall showcase right away. My understanding is that it is a “sort of” “introducing the new class” kind of showcase which I really liked. The other conservatory students get to check out the new talent and quite a few parents show up. It was great to match faces with all the names my D has been mentioning! The also have a Freshman Spring Showcase. Can’t wait to see how they grow!
