Please describe Cerro Vista, Bricks, & Connections for freshman.
I’m trying to decide where to go and am stuck between Cerro and Bricks. I really like Cerro but am afraid that I will miss out on the dorm experience/meeting people. Is it really as unsocial as everyone says? Also any insight on the Tenaya dorm in bricks? help!!1

Cerro may or may not be as unsocial as everyone says. It all depends on your point of view and what you choose to do. In Cerro, you get to share a suite with three other people. You may be closer to them than to any of the nearby rooms. For me, I hardly interact with anyone else in the other suites. I don’t really know the people who live next to us. On the other hand, you can still meet with those other people by just knocking on their doors and saying, “hi.” Every week, there are also events in the community center. They are great for meeting new people, but I do not think many attend these events. The biggest benefit of staying in Cerro is having your own room and the fact that you only get to share a bathroom with one other person. In the bricks, you are sharing a room with two or three people and multiple people for the showers/toilets. You do get double the amount of meal credits to spend though if you live in the Bricks or Connections. I think if you are really afraid of missing out on the dorm experience, you should stick with the bricks or connections though.

@Question0, Thank you very replying and your insight!
Do you wish you stayed in a different dorm?? How exactly do room assignments work in Cerro?

I don’t regret staying at Cerro at all. I became more closer to the people living in my suite. Basically, you can choose to request roommates or have a random roommate. You will be sharing a suite with 3 other people. Two of the people will share one bathroom, the other two people will share the other bathroom. You will be assigned a certain room in the suite (if you don’t like a certain room, you can switch with another person). I believe you find out around August the exact room and apartment of Cerro you will be staying in. As a freshman, you do not get to choose which apartment/room of cerro you would like to live in.

Another thing about Cerro: Once a week, house cleaning services will come and clean your bathrooms and the living room space. They don’t take out your kitchen trash though. They will provide you with new toilet paper weekly. It’s similar to the dorms (they clean the bathrooms there), but I feel like they are more like public bathrooms.

Hope that helps! :)
