Does anyone have any preference on East or Pollack as a freshman? Those are the 2 I am deciding between, and any information would be helpful! Thanks!
Either is great for freshmen. East is almost all freshmen so you would be surrounded by students in the same position as yourself, looking to meet people and establish friendships. It’s far from classes, close to the football stadium. Pollock has more of a mix of upperclassmen as well as freshmen and may be a little quieter…but not much. It’s closer to downtown and some classes. Pollock has proximity to sororities, which could be a pro or a con. The rooms are small in both complexes and both need work. Pollock’s dining complex is pretty sweet.
@stealthposter I plan on rushing for a sorority, so do you think then Pollock is the way to go? Also, I plan on going to a lot, if not all, of the home football games. As a freshman, are classes closer at Pollock?
You can rush effectively no matter which dorm complex you live in. You might get a little more exposure to the sororities living in Pollock rather than East just because of proximity. I think most of the sororities are actually in South, which is adjacent to Pollock. East is closer to Beaver stadium, Pollock will probably be a little closer to your classes and it’s closer to the HUB. If you think you’d like to spend a lot of time downtown (shopping, restaurants, etc), then Pollock is more convenient. No matter where you live, plan on doing a LOT of walking! Each of the dorm complexes has it’s strong points, so don’t worry too much about your housing assignment. Most Freshmen end up in East…it’s a rite of passage.
