I didn’t declare a major until the last possible minute (2nd semester junior year)-- Zoology and History of Science. Didn’t decide to go to med school until the last minute but did fine and loved it. I’m a pediatrician.

Neither of my kids has a firm major in mind (one is college freshman, the other hs junior). I’m okay with that (see above), but Type A husband (Math major, now radiologist) is getting nervous.

Me- Chemistry from day one, then medical school instead of PhD in it.

H- initially flip flopped medicine- engineering- medicine in India. Excellent physician, not suited to engineering in my opinion. Guess how we met… it was private practice in different specialties.

S- started with math or physics intentions, did math major (liked theoretical, not applied route) and added computer science major. Currently working in software development. Future??? Still early 20’s.
