Usually, Orgo is taken your second year of Pre-Med. And yes, there is a particular order of classes for Pre-Med, but it depends on the college.

AP Chem has no correlation to Orgo, so you cannot take it your Freshman year of Pre-Med. However, seeing that you got a 3, your AP Chem credit can be used toward substituting for first year chem courses. Good job :)

I thought most med schools want to see some chemistry other than orgo being taken at the university/college level. You should double check this but I think you will still have to take inorganic chem too. I think doing the inorganic before organic may help you with organic. Ask around with students who have taken it already. This is something you can post on a school’s reddit site.

With only a 3 on your AP Chem exam (equivalent to a C), I strongly recommend that you start with general chemistry at college instead of jumping into ochem. You clearly need more exposure and practice with chemistry concepts before moving on to ochem since a 3 shows you have knowledge gaps and imperfect mastery of the material.

You also need to check the policies of your specific undergrad since many colleges will not allow you college credit with an AP exam score below a 4.
