I am on route to running out of science classes to take at my high school. Would it stand out to colleges if I am taking organic chemistry at my local college as a high school senior? I am trying to get in to a pre med program, would this help me out at all? I am also on track to be taking differential equations at my local college as a high school senior.
Don’t take Orgo while still in HS.
If you take Orgo, be prepared for your GPA to go downhill.
Pre-med isn’t really a program; it’s a track. You have a required set of courses for med school admissions, but you can major in whatever you like.
There’s no point in taking Organic Chemistry in HS.
Agreed, its pointless. Unless your applying to BS/MD programs, colleges wont look at you any differently then a chemistry major who doesn’t want to go to med school. Itll just hurt your gpa most likely.
Taking ochem wouldn’t even be an option for you as you’d have to take 2 semesters of college level chemistry before you could take ochem. Even if you could, ochem is a lot of work. I don’t think a high school senior is mature enough to handle the workload of that class, especially if (s)he has never taken a college chemistry class before.
Internet pb sorry
Taking orgo as a hs senior won’t impress colleges and may hurt you for med school admission.
How many chemistry classes post Ap chem.have you taken ? If you haven’t already taken General Chemistry 1 do so and get an A.
Does the university where you’re ddual enrolled have classes like History of Medicine
