<p>I don’t wish to advise you to break any UD “rules” but I believe that as long as you are switching to another section of the same course it is not a violation (unless your D was told at NSO that she was being placed in a particular section of a course for a specific reason). As long as you are not trying to move from an “honors” section to a “non-honors” section (or visa/versa) of a course I really don’t see it as an issue. You can also check on the website for each section of a course to see if it is limited to a particular group/category of students (some sections are limited to students at UD sites outside of Newark, or for other reasons). They just don’t want entering students to begin to change actual course selections without getting advisor approval (for a number of good reasons). Unless they have some type of “lock-out” system in place for entering freshmen your D could make this change herself on her UDSIS site on the date allowed. But keep in mind a number of other students will be trying to do the same thing on that date, so unless there is a specific time posted students will begin to make changes at 12:01 am on that date. Of course you can only switch into course sections that have open slots. If you still have reservations about doing this perhaps you could call or send an email to the NSO office and inquire (in a general way) about whether advisor approval is mandatory just to change a course section.
