I'm an incoming freshman, and I have a few questions about the FS's that I can't find the answer to.

1) Can only 1 seminar be taken a year? If so, would it be better to take it in conjunction with the writing seminar, which in my case is in the spring?

2) How important/beneficial is it to select seminars from your residential college?

3) How many people take them? I understand that FS's are optional, but I would like to take advantage of every opportunity the school offers me.

You can take one seminar per semester.

Students often say it's a bad idea to take a freshman seminar at the same time as the writing sem, but there is no real evidence that's logical; all courses at Princeton are demanding. It's supposed to be easier to get into a seminar in your residential college, but if you are really excited about a particular topic and you convey your enthusiasm and experience with it in your essay, unless the prof is a famous name you have a great chance of getting in. I have heard nothing but great feedback on the freshman seminars from my d, who took two of them. Highly recommend you avail yourself of the opportunity.
