Hello All. I wanted to know if I could get some insight into what to do about my situation. Right now I have just completed
my freshman year in college and it was terrible. I got horrendous grades. I want to transfer into another school for the architecture program. Its a five year program. I dont have enough credits to be a transfer student but they have a admission category known as freshman transfer where they look at your high school information as criteria and they look at your college information. My question is should i try and get my GPA up to their transfer requirements and then apply as a transfer or try my luck at a freshman transfer.
Few is any schools will admit a student with a “horrendous grades.”
Your target school is situated to advise you. 1) they want to admit students 2) they want their students to succeed.
They’ll tell you up front under what circumstances you can be admitted – or if not at all. Also, architecture is one of the most work intensive majors. Are you sure you’re situated for that? Be honest.
I’m sure they’ll query you on your plans how to not repeat your 1st 2 semesters of bad work. If you can convince them, they might accept you. Otherwise, you’re path must be to make the turnaround at the school you’re currently attending. You’re not the 1st to do this. You’ve got to proactively go to your own school to develop a remedy. There is no shortcut.
