Freshman: What was your GPA?

3.684, 18 credits

1st semester, 2 A's, 4 B's, 88.33 average
2nd semester, 5 A's, 1 B, 94 average

3.6--17 credits.

3.4 for 18 credits. All my grades were A or A- except for one class that I knew I bombed so I'm hoping to do better next semester.

3.91 18 credits :)

sigh first term 2.67
second term 3.00
gpa 2.84 =[..........sigh I got 2 C and 1 C- screw it screw it.......

I got a 4.0 with 17 credits... molecular and cell bio major.

Next semester will be tougher though, I'm taking 19 credits including history and economics (which might be more reading-intensive than what I had first semester)

4.0 with 16 hours. It's nice, because I need a 3.5 to keep my scholarship, so this gives me more wiggle room for future semesters. I'm an applied math major, but that doesn't make a difference, since last semester I didn't take any math or science. Oh, and my school makes no distinction between A's, A+'s, and A-'s. A B+ is different than a B, but all A's are the same.

I have more difficult classes this semester, though. I'm taking physics and calculus again after a year without any math or science...

a lot of lies here.

I'm sure there are some, but also people who got lower grades are a.) less likely to be here in the first place and b.) not likely to post in this thread so that everyone can see their bad grades.

I have yet to meet one person at McGill who has above a 3.5...and I'm dead serious. I have heard a legend about a kid who got a 3.9 and became a rhodes scholar.

In any case, I think class rank/school you attend is much more indicative of preformance than GPA. I transferred from a school where my 3.91 only put me in the top 10%.

at my school teachers really only gives one "A" a semester per class. so its really difficult to get an A and we don't have A-. so these 4.0 are nearly impossible, i haven't met somebody with above a 2.8. and my school has 30K students.

I have a 3.75 on the normal 4 credits here.

For first semester, I got a 3.8 in 15 credits.

3.37 16 credits

Business seminar(2cred)- A
Religious studies(3cred)- B+ not religious AT ALL
Math 110(4 cred)- B-, I had a B+/A- till the stupid final and i screamed
Astro 001(3cred) - A, didnt even go to class lolz
Compsci(4cred)- B+, Had a 99% till the teacher started screwing everything up. She killed my grade, I mean who has problems with excel/access? easy as hell, but this dumb teacher, who got replaced the next semester, had to kill my chances...

Btw, If i applied to a transfer, would the school I'm transferring to consider the incompetence of the teacher as an excuse for my lower GPA? I would hope so..

I really hate the difference in GPA calculation at various schools. Some schools are +/- (mine), others are pure A, B, C, D, F/W/Q and others are A+ bonus givers. I ended up with a 3.52 taking a senior level econ courses, two sophomore level literature courses and two freshman formal science courses with all courses being honors. I earned, percentage-wise, an A+ in the econ and one of the lit courses which would have pushed me up to the high 3.8, low 3.9 range. But, I'm not disappointed because I totally destroyed my senior course and am currently in three senior level courses and doing fine. Silver lining, I guess.

^My school is really annoying, because while there are no A+s, there are still A-s, and +/- for every other letter grade.

I love that we have no A-'s (or A+'s). That's the only reason I have a 4.0! Some of my grades were really borderline between an A and a B. There are +/- for every other grade, though, and I do like that as well, because if one of those grades had ended up being a B+, it wouldn't have affected my gpa as much as a straight B.

you guys are really smart!!!!!!
