freshman year schedule? Please help!

I just got my high school schedule, which is:

Accelerated Geometry
9th grade lit gifted
AP Human Geography
AP Bio
Spanish 1
AP environmental science

The problem is, I don't have PE/Health and I need that to graduate. I really don't want to do it in 10/11/12th grade. And, I don't want to take Spanish; I really want to take Latin. So, should I change out AP environmental science for PE/Health and change out Spanish for Latin? How do you change out classes? Thank you.

Change out Spanish for Latin, it’s a good differentiating factor and will help with science classes. keep enviro if PE brings down your gpa.

Do you know if you can take PE online? A lot of people choose to do that to get the credit but without interfering with they’re schedule.

Your High School offers AP courses for Freshmen?? Other than that, I would recommend doing an after school sport for your Phys Ed credit. I don’t know if your school does that, but its what I did!

@dgsk42 most schools don’t let you do that

It never hurts to ask. My school let me test out of gym by exercising on my own time and keeping track of the hours.

An A in PE/Health won’t bring down your unweighted GPA, and that’s all that matters. (Weighted GPA sometimes matters for class rank, but presumably everyone at your school has to have PE/Health in their weighted GPA.)

Talk to your guidance counselor to see if you can change Spanish to Latin. Spanish is more useful for talking to people in the “real world,” but Latin is cooler. :)

Thanks for the replies, but do you guys think that taking three APs (even though HG and Enviromental science are the easiest) freshman year is a little too much? Although I know what I can handle, I want to make sure I’m not going to be taking on too much.

I think you should be fine if you are hard working.

All easy classes, with the exception of Biology, which you will find very difficult

@HighSchoolDoctor‌ I have to disagree. I’m taking AP Biology as a freshman and don’t think it’s very difficult.

Yeah, in order to get out of gym, I had done Spring Varsity Track and Fall Junior Varsity Tennis, which actually looks good for college I suppose! I had gotten special permission from the athletic director though because I had needed the time to do Honors Chemistry, but it never hurts to ask.

If you can get your PE req another way do it. Colleges will not judge you for taking a non-honors or AP classes if you need them to graduate. AP enviro is kind of a joke AP, so dropping it will not make you miss out on any class that would be important to you (unless you really care about the material).
