Freshman year

how much do freshman grades matter in admissions at USMA?

I don't know this officially, (and am just saying this as a fellow candidate) but I'd assume that West Point might cut you some slack if you had not-so-good freshman year grades and brought them up and kept them consistent throughout the rest of high school. However, what you should be more worried about is how those freshman grades affected your class rank, because USMA in general places a higher emphasis on class rank than specific grades.

IgotAquestion: I assume that if you brought up your average and did very well the rest of your time in High School - and continue to do very well this first semester of your senior year that the freshman grades won't matter much. West Point looks at your whole candidate score - grades, SAT's, physical/athletics, and leadership. Good luck!

I pulled mostly b's and a few a's freshman year but then pulled 4.0+ the rest of highschool and I got an LOA.
