Freshmen dorming

Somehow this got messed up…JeeYeon actually created this thread, just ignore this post

is it true that freshmen at UPenn aren't allowed to have single rooms? cause that would suck

false (10 char)

S has a single in the quad. Plenty of freshmen have singles.

Is it easy for freshmen to get singles?

I don't think that it is very difficult. I live in the Quad and about half of my floor is made up of singles and I have yet to meet a person that requested a single but got a roommate.

I seriously hope for a single room. I hate sharing living quarters with people who are not related to me by blood. Too optimistic...hopefully I will get in.

You could also consider suite living where you have a separate bedroom but share a common living area with three other people.

That would be really cool. This would allow for a lot of privacy but would still provide an opportunity to meet new people rather than excluding yourself from everybody else. crashingwaves, what do you call does kind of suites?

Are those suites located in the quad?

Many of the singles in the quad are tiny- as in barely room to walk between the bed and the closet. Do not worry about the social effect- the kids in singles are every bit as social and meeting tons of people. There is really no difference.

Well Ive stayed at dorms on 2 or 3 different occasions with random people, its fun. Even if ur roommate sucks, u can hang out with the people next to ya.

how much more does it cost to get a suite/single?

The singles in (Morris?) I think were really nice compared to the place I stayed. It sucks if you get stuck on the basement floor. I think it was class of 28' or something like that.

does penn use comon bathrooms, or does each room/suite have its own? i dont like the idea of having common bathrooms on each floor, kinda creeps me out ><;

all college houses except the highrises / lowrises and sansom have shared bathrooms, some of which are same-sex, and some of which are coed.

yeeish ^
im an only child so all that stuff kinda creeps me out.
but i think itd be fun to have a roommate -someone to just be there, physically, for you. id feel safer, more comfortable at college.

Roommates are fun, except when you want to go to sleep and he won't turn the light off so he can read more of One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich.

Go with a roommate. College is a ridiculously huge....thing...and it takes more than one person to explore it all.

I know in the Quad there are shared bathroms for each floor
