freshmen dorms

What dorms are best for freshmen? Closest to classes, easiest to study in, comfy, tutoring/support...

There have been a few threads on this subject. Here is one very interesting discussion:
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/archive/index.php/t-127285.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/archive/index.php/t-127285.html</a></p>

Everyone seems to have their own ideas about which dorms are the best for freshman. Most agree that the standard double room/communal bathroom dorms are the best for social reasons. If you do not want to meet lots of new people, prefer to live in quiet...perhaps one of the suite-type dorm rooms would be better for you. The housing website at ufl.edu has a list of all the dorms and what type of rooms they have.

I noticed from your previous posts that you applied to Cornell. If you have those types of credentials (GPA 4.0 w, SAT >1400 CR+ M) then you would qualify for honors at UF..which means you qualify for Hume Hall...the newest and most desired dorm. It is full of honors freshman and some sophmores. It is a bit further from classes then say...the Broward area dorms (Broward/Rawlings/Mallory) but very comfy.

I'm one of the ones who prefer the subtleness and less racket, so I chose a suite as my first choice. Surely there are other ways to meet people at the school :)
