Is there anyone familiar with the Freshmen Housing process at Tufts who can explain it a bit? Do students have a choice in what type of room they get (single/double) or what hall they are in? Are students matched based on applications or do they have to find roommates on their own? Is there any kind of priority for students who apply and are accepted early?

Students can either find roommates themselves through the accepted students FB page, or be paired randomly based on a survey that they fill out for the Office of Res Life. There is no priority for ED admits; the survey comes out in May and pairings are done by mid-June. Most freshmen are doubled. There are some singles, but I believe they are randomly assigned. You are also randomly assigned to your residence hall. (There may be an exception if there is a women’s only dorm or a substance free dorm, but I’m not sure). Good luck!
