Wow some of your guys schedules are very interesting sounding combinations!

And it looks like course titling is the same everywhere, haha I’m relieved it’s not just my college that’s a bit aloof in freshman or liberal course titles

Intro to International Politics- 4 credits
Spanish 205-6 credits
World Literature-4 credits
Applied Calculus I-3 credits

Question: Would my schedule be too overwhelming if I added Biology to my Fall 2011 schedule? I want to take it, but I’m afraid that I won’t be able to handle 5 classes while working 30-35 hrs/wk.

Intro to Engineering Honors 1hr
Intro to Literature Honors 3 hr
General Physics Honors 4 hr
First Amendment Freedoms 2hr honors seminar
Calculus III 3hr

Was not planning on that many honors hours…

Physics 1350: Basic Astronomy for the Non-Major: MWF 8-8:50 (3 hrs)
History 1000: World Civ: MWF 9-9:50 (3 hrs) (Damn my stupid AP World Score for not getting me out of this class).
Anthropology 1000: MWF 10-10:50 (3 hrs)
University Band: (A Basic Music Ensemble): TR: 8-8:50 (1 hr)
English 2160: Honors Composition: TR 10-11:15 (3 hrs)
Speech 1010: Honors Introduction to Public Speaking: TR 11:30-12:45 (3 hrs)

Economics and Math major (if and only if Calculus II doesn’t eat me alive! hehe.)

Calculus II (4 credits)
Ecology and Evolution with lab (4 credits)
Freshman English for AP / Transfer students (2 credits)
Art History survey II (3 credits)
First-Year Honors Seminar (1 credit)

Can anyone tell me what to expect in an “Honors Seminar” because it wasn’t discussed at orientation. Which was rather strange. I known programs vary vastly - but I haven’t got the slightest clue!

Math major, with a minor in music theory :)

Calc II, 4 credits, MWF 9:00-9:50, and thurs 8:30-9:20

Intro to Mass Communication, 3 credits, TT 9:30-10:45

Music Theory & Ear Training I, 4 credits, MT*** 1:00-1:50

Living Issues in Philosophy, 3 credits, TT 2:00-3:00

Concert Choir, 1 credit, MTWT 4:00-5:00

I am also “taking” an English course that requires me to write two papers, go to one lecture at some point, and I get 3 credits. (Apparently that’s what happen when you test out of freshman English). This brings my total to 18 credits, which is a full class load… I’m hoping that should work ok

Any opinions??? I think I’m excited about it, but I don’t really know what to expect haha.

What school do you go to that offers an undergrad minor in music theory? just curious- I’m a music performance major (piano), also interested in music theory and took college theory in HS. I’ll probably take some advanced classes in theory above what’s required for my major, but it won’t actually count as a ‘minor.’

BUI 100 - Blount Convocation (1)
BUI 101 - Blount Foundations: Origins (3)
MATH 110 - Finite Mathematics (3)
FR 103 - Intensive First Year Review (4)
UH 155 - Honors Seminar: International War Crimes (3)

Total credit hours: 14

It isn’t the schedule I had hoped for, and I’m still irked that my course load is exclusively made up of 100-level courses; I know very well that I can handle higher level courses and an additional class. It’s quite underwhelming. However, it’s nothing I’m not looking forward to, either. Oh well.

@iluvpiano, I’m going to University of Wisconsin River Falls, a nothing too special state school that I nonetheless adore… and I just have to take 4 4 credit theory courses, and 2 music history courses, and BAM there’s my minor! Should be fun and no problem Also, i didnt realize that in putting M-T-W-T-F without the dashes, meant to represent each day of the week, would get censored as what the eff… lol oops!

Ok, didn’t know UWRF had a theory minor. My grandma went there, but for an education major (a long time ago!). I know 2 other people that will be attending there this fall, too.

Fall:
-Popular Music Performance
-Popular Music Forum
-Voice Lessons
-Keyboard Proficiency
-Aural Skills 1 (or 2 if I place out of 1)
-Theory 1 (If I place out of theory, I’ll probably take Harmony in Popular Music)
-Literature of the Resistance

Spring (probable):
-Popular Music Performance
-Popular Music Forum
-Voice Lessons
-Drumming Proficiency
-Aural Skills 1 (or 2) pt.2
-Theory 1 (or Harmony in Popular Music) pt.2
-Analytical Writing

We only know our Fall schedules for now unfortunately.

Focus: Anthropology

Honors English Composition - 3 credits
Human Origins - 3 credits
Cultural Anthropology - 3 credits
Elementary Japanese 1 - 4 credits
First Year Studies(required) - 1 credit

14 credit total

I had been planning to take Biodiversity, but unfortunately, there were some mix-ups and didn’t have my AP Bio scores, so that has to all be fixed…I want to double major eventually with Anthropology and Evolutionary Biology, but I’ll wait until next year or next semester to focus on that. Slow start, but this all works for me. It means I can make sure that I am prepared for this college transition. Most of these classes seem quite interesting to me, and I have been wishing to get a chance to learn Japanese since middle school. I’m worried for college, but also highly excited.

I took that class! I don’t remember it…which means it must not have been too bad

It seems like the credits issue shouldn’t be a big deal since it’s still only 5 classes. Some of the courses I took that were 4 credits didn’t really seem that much more difficult. Oh, and the “music theory and ear training” sounds cool. I mainly teach myself to play by ear because I suck at reading music, so I’d be interested to see how they taught this in a class. What do you play?
