Overall, i’m super satisfied with my schedule. Wanted to take Criminology but opted for intro to gay/lesbian studies for this semester; i’ll hold back on Crim for next semester. I also decided to keep up with my math, but i’ll have to take a science next semester, so i’m kind of nervous.

Lol, I can’t play by ear that well. Not enough to get by in a band or orchestra. High school band was always hard because I struggled with reading music when we would first get it or during sight-reading sessions, but if I heard the song just once or twice I could catch on pretty well. I always looked stupid at first compared to everyone else, though. But I’m good enough to get by when just playing music on my own.

I know how you feel- I was a transfer student too! It was really weird at first because I did kind of feel like a freshman. They wanted me to go to all the freshman orientation and intro-to-college stuff even though I had been a student for two years. It was weird just being around all of the freshman because I felt so much older than them. They were fresh out of high school while I already had two years of school and a lot of work and internship experience. So it is weird at first. But you’ll get used to it! Everyone always starts out taking general education classes so the classes for your major will probably feel new to everyone else too.

Molecular & Cell Biology Major

Math 1a (4)-General calculus
Chemistry 1al lecture (3)-Inorganic chem
Chemistry 1al lab (1)-Corresponding lab class
Classics 10a (4)-Introduction to greek civillization
Molecular & Cell Biology 32 (3)-Introduction to human physiology

Professionals in bands and orchestras can’t even do that, considering they usually have only two rehearsals before each performance. It’s nearly impossible when you begin learning more difficult literature. :stuck_out_tongue: Practicing scales and sight reading (30 seconds to look at the piece before you play it once through, and only once) for an hour or two every day helps a lot.

I just kinda made a few adjustments to my schedule

here it is:

Intro to Psych
Intro to Rural Sociology
Intro to Linguistics
Intro to Korean
Honors English (also first-year seminar)
lgbt studies (this is under engl, though)

Major: Anthropology at Mississippi State

My Schedule:

Honors Cultural Anthropology (AN 1143) 3 hours
Accelerated English Comp II (EN 1173) 3hours
Honors Forum I (HON 1081) 1 hour
First Year Seminar “The Power of Color” (ID 1001) 1 hour
Intro to Old Testament (REL 1213) 3 hours
Intro to Statistics with lab (ST 2113) 3 hours
Marching Band/Colorguard (MU 2511) 1 hour

It’s a total of 15 hours, but they all seem relatively easy. I’m going to catch up on my sciences next semester… I don’t like the idea of taking a serious lab based science course in the middle of marching season! The Accelerated English Comp II class will count as credit for Comp I because of my ACT English sub-score. I also have credit for College Algebra and Modern Western World thanks to dual-enrollment.
