freshmen schedule--NEED HELP!

I think I am in a big trouble now...I am going to be a freshmen student in Berkeley starting fall...but right now I am still in China and will not be in US until August 15th. By the way, I am Chinese.

I am planning on declaring Applied mathematics as my major, but I am also intrested in the double major program. But I am now sure how everything works. I have no idea if I can do both math and finance/accounting the same time.

Ok, now the problem is I have no idea what to choose for my freshman schedule, and I have lots of troubles contacting either the school or other students in Berkeley. Tomorrow is my Tele-bear Phase I, and now I think I am in an emergency. I am still waiting for my AP results for AP English Lit&Com and AP Cal AB, so should I choose my class assuming that I passed neither? But I am pretty sure I can get a 5 on AP Cal... no confidence with English though...

I only satisified the writing, reasoning, and american history in all the required staff, so I have to think about the 7 areas thing, too...

Ahhhhh....I am so stressed...I've been up whole night here. Could anyone please help me to decide what class I should take and what should I choose for Phase I...

Thanks a lot!!! I regret a lot for coming back to China this summer...Everything is a mess...

First, immediately go on and take the online advising for students who won’t get to CalSO. It will help you build up a list of reasonable classes to take first semester.
Once done, post again and I will send you some ideas and suggestions.

I already took it a long time ago, but it only suggests me to take Math 1A and UGBA 10… The problem is I don’t know if I should register for Math 1B instead because my AP result did not come out. I am pretty sure I canget a 5 but in case there are weird circumstances. Another problem is my AP english. I have not much confidence about the result but I might do better than I thought. It’s troublesome.

Sorry I replied really late!! I fell asleep…I stayed up till morning…

also I lacked everything needed for the 7 breath and american culture…I also want to take Japanese for foreign language…

If you’re this desperate, maybe calling collegeboard for 8 bucks might be worth it. Can’t you check out your AP scores through your account in Berkeley for free anyway?

I knew that…but somehow it’s not up there…and it’s pretty impossible that i failed all three classes…

Thank you for all the help! I’ve just decided to take Math 1A and UCGB 10 for now…and wait till my Phase II–which is on 26th–to check out the rest of the classes. I might be able to transfer at that time.

You made the right choice, IMO. The Math classes are several levels harder than any AP test. You cannot do well in Math 1B without having very strong calculus skills. I got 5 in all my AP exams, but I decided to take the class it substituted anyways and realized that the AP exams were really a cakewalk. If you want the most out of your experience at Berkeley, I advise you to take all prereq classes regardless of AP results. You might be able to graduate a semester ahead of schedule with the AP exams, but you will likely regret it.
