freshmen schedule sixth college

i got my recommended schedule and it's the following:

MATH 20C
CHEM6AH
CAT1
sixth college GE: and im planning to take music.

would this schedule be too hard?

i got 4 on my calc bc exam and SD placed me in 20C. do i have to follow that schedule? or can i start from 20A? or would they not give me letter grade only credit if i take 20A?

also i have the same question for chem 6ah. can i take 6a, because i heard honor teacher mr. weare isn't that great.

lastly, whos a better professor to take

thanks for your help

I don’t think the schedule will be too hard, but you always have the option of dropping a class before the end of week 4 without any penalty if you decide that it’s too hard.

You can technically start from 20A but they won’t give you any credit for the class and it would therefore not factor into your GPA. If you did good enough to get exempted from the first two classes, I would say just go with MATH 20C.

You can take CHEM 6A. And as far as the 6A professors go, I had Crowell for 6B and while I wouldn’t recommend him for that class I can’t speak for him as a 6A professor. Maybe he teaches this class better. I don’t know. I will say that his tests and grading were pretty fair but he was not my favorite. I haven’t had Czworkowski as a chemistry professor but as a education studies professor and I can say he is easily one of the nicest people I know. I understand some people have mixed feelings about him as a chemistry professor, but I can’t really speak on that since I don’t have firsthand experience in his class. I endorse him as a person though for sure. And I don’t know the other professors teaching 6A.

if i drop out of 20c and take an easier class, i would most likely have to be on the waitlist right?. you have any idea what they teach in 20c? they don’t give credits? so basically its like you are just wasting time reviewing right?

if i qualify for chem 6ah,but i take reg chem6, do i get credits or no? does that class prepare chem students for upperdivision class better?

Won’t necessarily be on a waitlist if you pick a different class. I took the 10 series instead of the 20 series so I don’t know exactly what they teach in the class, but the class description is:

“Vector geometry, vector functions and their derivatives. Partial differentiation. Maxima and minima. Double integration”

And yeah, if you take 20A or B you won’t get credit for them so it technically is “wasting your time”. It’s just like if you tried to take the same class twice in high school. They wouldn’t give you double the credits for it. Same thing here.

You’ll get credit for taking CHEM 6A. I didn’t take CHEM 6AH but the general consensus is that it’s really only for people who are REALLY interested in chemistry. I took the non honors chem classes and they prepared me for my upper div classes just fine.

ohh i see. what major are you? from what i know, no one had had good experience with honors chem so im hesitant. if im planning to go to grad school(med or pharm), will honors look better than reg chem? is honors chem a prerequiste of any upperdivision class?

are you in sixth college? if you are, which GE do you recommend me taking? i have a friend whose from sixth and she said to take music 1. is that a serie class? like do i have to take music for an entire year? or should i take ethics studies or CSE?
