We just got back from a very nice freshmen send off party in Greenville. If you have a chance to attend one in your area, I'd encourage you to go. I'm sure each one is different, but I'll share about ours. The USC Mascot, Cocky, was there. Nice goodie bags for the studies (T-shirt, pizza coupon, etc) and some gift card door prizes, too. I think each send-off party is different concerning the food, but ours provided a delicious BBQ supper. The student body president spoke for a bit, too. S got a chance to meet others from the area that are attending USC. It was a really nice thing for the alumni association to host. A summer rain dampened some folk's hair and clothes, but surely didn't dampen any enthusiasm!

we didn't have one here in NY last year, thats for sure LOL
glad you enjoyed it,it sounds like more of that Southern hospitality we've come to know and love!!

I guess we probably won't have one up in Illinois either. A neighbor of ours is an alumn, I guess we'll have to throw our own party!!

I think there were a couple scheduled for PA, but the rest of them were going to be held in southern states. Wouldn't it be fun if we could have a "College Confidential" freshmen send-off?!!

I was at the one for PA. It was very fun and I'm glad I went. I came a little late, but made it in time for a group picture of the new freshmen, which were about 30 of us. In all, the host said that there would be about 100 people in the delaware valley who we would be going down. I thought that was pretty interesting.

tennisace,
Did you go to the one in Kennett Square, or the one in Pittsburg? My son-in-law is from Kennett Square. There were several people from that town who came to the "other" school (Clemson) from there several years ago. I read on the USC site that the Capstone program has 23 students coming from PA and 1 coming from Delaware this year. That's a great group! Seems like SC schools and climate must suit some folks from PA pretty well!

tennisace
that's very interesting to know!

Yea, the one in Kennett Square. I was very surprised at the number going down. It was nice to know that so many more people were going down there than I expected. I know that I'm the only one from my school who is going down.

And greenville, I don't know what it is but it seems like everybody just embraces the school and they do an excellent job at getting people to go come there every year.

I know that I can't wait to go down. Move-in day is just 3 weeks away tomorrow :)
