I received a phone call around 9:30PM last night. He said he is doing freshmen survey from UCLA, but the caller ID was anonymous. He asked "How is your child doing at school", "Did you child decided the major yet". Does this happen to other freshmen parents? My child already have a major, why he asked?

I have no idea, thats sounds a bit fishy. Maybe one of his/her friends just wanted to know his major or gpa.

My parent received a similar phone call about 2 months ago, and was suspicious as well. My dad did not answer and told the caller to find out from me, myself, because I am actually on campus. In the end, the caller never called back or contacted me.

Personally, I wouldn’t discuss those topics to some random stranger on the phone… just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did not continue the conversation with the caller and did say something like “I don’t feel comfortable to discuss becasue I am unable to identify this call is from UCLA since no caller ID”. Today, I also left a message to UCLA calling center to see if they are doing freshmen survey.
