fridges and microwaves? help!

if you rent a fridge from http://www.micro101.com/ucb how do you rent a microwave if you're not allowed to bring it?

are you supposed to split the cost of the fridge? if so, how?

do most people rent from this site?

Even though you're not allowed to bring it, i heard some bring it and hide it.

you're not allowed to bring a microwave? i had my micro out in the open, you're allowed to bring one i'm sure...unless it's a new rule, if so, that's horse malarchy, hide it then.

There's a "new" rule about refrigerators and microwaves. They want everyone to rent because of the Campus Green Program...

I am moving back into a mini-suite and I called Housing and they said it was okay to bring a refrig and microwave I have from last year so maybe they aren't going to enforce it...

That's just ridiculous...I can't believe Berkeley would do that.

hold on.....so are we really not allowed to bring fridges if not bought from that one place...!!?!?

eff that man, don't follow that jack ass rule.

Yeah, I'm really questioning how much this is going to be enforced, because it's just going to **** hordes of students off.

eh...i really don't like that "rent a fridge" rule...
they're just trying to rip all the students off!!

^^ my gf's an RA and they've never heard of the rule, so i doubt they're enforcing it...it's prolly more of a strong suggestion

^^ That's great to hear!! :-)

The only reason to rent is if you have absolutely no intention of keeping the appliances for the following year.

Since you all know your roommates by now, it would be a good idea to contact them so you can coordinate what to bring.

Try for a fridge with a freezer compartment. They generally don't run over $200 and can be had for much less.

LOL, you can buy a brand new fridge + microwave for a fraction of the price it costs you to rent them for a year. You're better off buying them and throwing them out at the end of the year than renting (if you don't need them anymore, that is).

I contacted my roommate and she doesn't know what she's gonna bring or what she wants to split. I hate indecisive! So I guess I'm kinda stuck with buying/renting on my own, oh well.

"Please don't bring a refrigerator from home."
I'm going assume that's just a request, not a command.

The real question is, are a refrigerator and microwave both necessary for the dorming experience?

my roommate hasn't responded to my email I sent a while ago... suggestions for what I should do?

sparetire: microwaves and fridges come in quite handy. for example....the day of the cal-usc game, being in the hall government at bowles, we had a giant bbq with tri-tip.
meanwhile, my entire floor split some cash, and we bought a ton of beer and stacked it in my fridge. keeping beer cold is an absolute necessity of the dorming experience.

and microwaves are good to have for macaroni.
