If she wants to go to grad school saving the money would be worth it. Hunter College is close enough so she can get on the 4,5,6 trains, hang out in the village, and meet people from NYU. Plus, Hunter College is on the Upper East Side, a safe and beautiful neighborhood and offers great opportunities if they are paying her tuition and giving her small classes in an honors college.

No, you cannot apply as a transfer. Sorry. :-(

could someone who got into MHC post their stats? ive been interested in it for a while, but feel like i have some work to do, especially considering im not from an immigrant family and im not a resident of NYC

Well, these are my stats. And keep in my that I, in my humble opinion, wrote some pretty good essays.

SAT- M: 710 R: 650 W: 630
SAT II- Math II- 710 US His- 630
AP- Calc:5 AP Bio: 5 AP Eng: 4 AP US His: 3
GPA: ~98%
Also, I sent in all my certificate awards via fax…all the way from 8th grade in Jr. HS coming back to Junior Year of HS. It helps!! Shows a good track record.

i don’t really think it’s a big deal that she turned down nyu. for one, it’ll be a lot cheaper. and where you go for undergrad really doesn’t that matter much. grad school and such is where prestige really counts

Well we have to realize that not everyone in the world is fortunate enough to be able to afford NYU.

Easily made the choice of Macaulay at Hunter over NYU (not that I’m knocking NYU but 200k in NYC vs Free in NYC cmon). The professors they get for the honors classes are fantastic (one teaches graduate courses at Columbia). Am extremely excited to start next year. I do know a person who chose Stern over MHC at Hunter though. Also MHC at Hunter is tougher to get into than NYU (not talking about stern though). I know a large number of people who chose MHC (at least at Hunter) over schools like Columbia (a lot), Chicago, Penn, Cornell etc. They also over enrolled a lot (there are 139 of us 2013’s versus like 120 last year lol so next year could be tough). Don’t know about MHC at the other campuses though.
