just wanted to know if the friends you hang out with at Mcgill are from the dorms or the ones you go in class with and why ??

<p>I’m guessing you might be trying to decide whether to live on or off campus. If that’s the case, live on campus; I guarantee you won’t regret it, especially if you’re worried about friends. </p>
<p>I don’t think people restrict themselves to certain groups of friends - in other words, they don’t hang out only with people from their dorm, but also other dorms, people they’ve met through class, clubs, or sports. I know personally I hang out the most with people from my sports team. We are all in different years, live in different places (on and off-campus) but I guess I like spending time with them more than my other friends. I sit with my ‘class friends’ in class and we get together when studying as a group, but not very often just to hang out.</p>
<p>I think that living in res is the quickest way to make friends, and since res is only for first-years, you’ll have the rest of your undergrad to live off-campus. ECs are also great for meeting others. Befriending people in first-year classes is difficult since most have 600+ students, but you do have an opportunity in your tutorials/lab sections/conferences to meet people.</p>
