Any tips for improving in the closer to the top scores? What brought me down was really the writing: 710 math, 710 RC, and 670 writing...

Writing try Barron’s workbook.

Kaplan’s SAT 2400

Get the official College Board Study Guide and take all the practice tests. Best way to raise your score, hands down.

Heyy that’s exactly what happened to me! I had a 2090 in January then got a 2270 in may. What I think really helped me was being in English for the spring semester (we’re on the block schedule), and doing practice sat questions every day in the class.

Also on your essay, use historical and literary examples no matter how abstract they may be. I used the lord of the flies, Animal Farm, and the American Revolution (which I had planned beforehand) and just shaped my examples to match the prompt. That really brought my writing score up, the 11 on the essay plus the 710 subscore turned into a 760.

When doing the grammar part of the writing section, lip read the lines even if you think you may know the answer. If something doesnt flow right then pick that answer! Just make sure to not actually read aloud…

Good Luck!

Yeah I used mostly movie and international history (that I made up on the spot :P) so I got a 9.
