From a practical point of view

Just wondering what the level of petty theft ( or not so petty) around the dorms is like. Is a laptop lock, or a lock box for valuables important?

Any other advice from current students, or those who may know would be helpful.

Personally, my dad gave me a laptop lock and I never used it. My roommates and I used our common sense, closed/locked our doors when we left, and kept things out of sight. I left my laptop in the lounge lots of times, but another person I know had it stolen when he did that. If your things are really valuable and you'd rather not risk it, you could go with a lock box. But for me, a plastic underbed storage container served that purpose.

Better safe than sorry, but Tufts dorms are, in my experience, pretty safe.

Thank you. Perhaps we'll go with a lock box for things like passport, tickets, etc. At least they will be out of site and difficult to get at.
