Hi everyone,
this is my first post at CC, and i just wanted to see if anyone could help me out with my chances at being accepted to Georgetown. I am currently enrolled in the Liberal Studies Program at NYU as a Freshmen. I like NYC, but NYU isn't for me - no real community/campus, and I am not a big fan of the LSP. I am also interested in the foreign service school at Georgetown, and NYU does not have a program in this department that matches it. I am currently involved in the Washington Square News, the NYU student publication, and will probably get a B+/A- GPA this semester.

Since the deadline for transfer to Georgetown is March 1, I am guessing that my second semester grades here won't be as deciding a factor. I was accepted to Forham, NYU, USF, UVM, and St. Michaels after high school, yet I was denied from Georgetown. I was hoping coming from NYU would help my chances this time around. Also could anyone give me any information on the campus/student life at Georgetown as compared to NYU (virtually none). Any comments appreciated.
Thanks.

While grades and extra curricular activities are important to universities when transferring, they also really look for reasons as to why you would like to transfer. Obviously you have a fairly valid reason. You need to make this argument very clear. I want to accomplish X. NYU will not provide me X for Y reason. GT will do so, because of Z.

The only warning I have to say is that GT student life isn't exactly amazing. I suppose that it depends on your perspective, and I don't want to over generalize, but a lot of students at GT are spoiled brats to sum it up. Once again, not all, by any means, but a sizable group. Just remember that their families have to pay for them to go to a very expensive university located in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in DC. The shopping sprees that some of these students go on are unbelievable.

Yea one of the other reasons I don't like it here is because o the pretentious students - it seems everyone in the LSP program is a spoiled brat. I also want to have a lot of fun in college, and I am sick of going out every weekend to bars and horrible hispter parties...a good frat party once in a while would be a nice change. Is Georgetown not going to provide this?
