Frustrated with non-traditional education - can I still transfer to a 4Y?

Hi,

I'm interested in transferring to the University of Washington in a few years. My educational background doesn't really fit into their application. I was home schooled until 7th grade and then my mom stopped. At age 16, I started attending a community college through a program similar to Running Start. In 2 quarters, I have earned 23 credits and have a 3.97 cumulative GPA. Would I be able to transfer to UW with at least a 3.8 GPA? It's my dream school - and it's close to home.

I have one year (110 hours) of volunteer service at the Seattle Public Library. I taught myself how to make simple websites at age 8 and by age 10, I was teaching my adult friends PHP and MySQL. I have solid employment at my college and my boss/bosses' boss does the hiring for the student government - and they both love me.

Can I get some ideas of what I need to maintain, improve or add to ensure a smooth and successful application?

Thank you,

The transfer counselor at you comm clg is the person best equipped to answer your questions. Since UW is nearby, he/she likely has lots of experience plugging in students there. Make an appt.

Please clarify something, are you using college credit to complete HS (like dual enrollment) or have you graduated from HS and are now in college? I ask because many students take college coursework in HS, but when determining whether a candidate should apply as a fr or transfer, you only consider post-HS college coursework. Transferring the units is a separate question from application status.
