Community College Transfer Questions

Hi, I'm transferring out of a community college in-state and applied to UW for Fall 2011. I've been a little weary about my chances and would love some input.

I have a 2.7 cumulative GPA - yes, I know its rather low. My cumulative is a 2.7 for several reasons, including a bad Running Start GPA which has stuck with me through college proper, as well as low grades in prerequisite math courses. But if I read correctly, UW doesn't count prerequisite courses in their Transfer GPA calculations which would raise my GPA significantly. I submitted my application on Feb.10 and I explained my situation pretty well in the Personal Statement and also provided two letters of recommendation from very credible sources.

The program I'm interested in is Environmental Science & Resource Conservation (ESRM) which is an open major, and I will have my AA by the end of this spring.
Would love some help.

Thanks a lot!

One more thing, is it required that you send in your SAT scores even if you’ve exceeded 40 transferrable credits?

Honestly, with a 2.7 you’re odds are pretty nil. Although there are special exception cases for low gpa’s…you have an exceptionally low gpa.

I have a friend w/a 3.4 that applied 4x and was rejected each time (CC transfer). I got in but my gpa was significantly higher (3.92)

And no, you don’t need to send in your SAT if you have over 40 credits. I didn’t (Never took them actually)

Re SAT requirements - I had the same questions a few months ago. You do not need SAT’s for WSU, WWU or UW if you have 40 plus college transferable credits. I was accepted into WSU and WWU already, but no word from UW, without submitting any SAT’s. I also confirmed this with each admissions department as I was “anxious”. I’m a GRCC transfer with a GPA of 3.74. I hope I have a chance…
